Admission Requirements:
Community Technical & Adult Education is a public educational institution dedicated to providing educational opportunities for all who can profit from instruction. Job Preparatory Information:
All job preparatory classes require the student to take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). The TABE is an assessment designed to measure reading. language and math levels. Programs require specific TABE scores be achieved before a Certificate of Completion can be issued. Contact the program coordinator of the area you are interested in for more information.

Fees:
All fees are payable at the time of registration. Fees are based on the number of hours a course is scheduled to meet. Fees are established by the State of Florida. The fee structure is as follows:

Fees for Postsecondary Adult Training

Vocational Courses
Florida Resident Job Preparatory $1.87 average/student contact hour
Continuing Workforce Education $2.29 average/student contact hour
Non-Florida Resident $7.14 average/student contact hour

Non-Vocational Courses
Recreational and Leisure $1.60-$2.20/student contact hour

Adult Basic Education
Fee Exempt

GED Preparation
Fee Exempt for those without a high school diploma

High School Graduate requiring academic skills improvement
Florida Resident $.89 average/student contact hour
Non-Florida Resident $3.50 average/student contact hour
(The charges are only applicable if the students tests below a 9 on the Test for Adult Basic Education.)

English for Speakers of Other Languages

Refund Policy:
Fees will be automatically refunded within four to six weeks when classes are cancelled administratively. No refunds will be made for personal withdrawal after the second class meeting or for fees of five dollars or less.

Registration Procedures:
Unless otherwise stated, registration will take place the first class meeting. Classes without sufficient enrollment to cover expenses will be cancelled. Please attend class the first meeting to avoid finding your class filled or cancelled. No mail or phone-in registrations. To register, please be prepared with your social security number, date of birth, current address, telephone number, and the correct fee. All fees must be paid at the time of registration. Local checks are accepted and should be made payable to Marion County School Board. Correct fees and registration information will allow entrance to class. Please note: Our facility can ONLY accept local checks and cash. Out-of-county checks CANNOT be accepted.
